I couldn't believe my eyes

Yesterday was a day of "firsts" in the Macmanus household. It started as any other day. We got up, Bart took McKenna to school. Then I cleaned house, played a little, fed Aislynn, went to pick McKenna up from school, came home, ate lunch, and the girls played. It was a normal day. I was sitting at the computer with Aislynn on my lap as she worked on a "present" for me. I always let her get it all out before going to change it. I had the feeling she was done so I got up to go change her stinky pants. As I am approaching the living room I can hear Kambry playing on the floor with Jake. She rolls around and hugs him and chases him and just likes to play with him. Then I turn the corner of the kitchen and see a sight that I think will scar me for life. I saw my DOG mounted up on my daughter and doing the deed. I immediately swatted him off and pushed him out the door. I didn't grow up with dogs, nor do I know that much about them, but I know that is just WRONG in all senses. I had to have Kambry change her pants because they weren't exactly dry. She of course had no idea what was going on, thankfully. So, to add to the drama of owning another pet, now I have to wonder what he is doing when I am not watching. Later that day we were sitting at the dinner table and like most days Kambry was the last one eating. She takes the longest of all of us for some reason. I was in the bedroom folding clothes or something and McKenna comes in and tells me that Kambry was asleep at the table. Sure enough, she dozed right off. The occasional head bob into the table was kind of funny. I did manage to capture the moment. So here you go...
Then the last part of my day that was a new occurrence involved Aislynn. It actually wasn't a first so to say but it rarely happens so I grouped it all together. I was able to get a good nights sleep because Aislynn decided to get a full night's sleep also. YEAH!! Keep it up little one.

Feeling like blah

Okay, so I know that was a weird title to my post for today. I just wrote what I felt, I mean what I am feeling. It's one of those days where the sun just doesn't want to show it's face quite yet but still I am up trying to get things done around the house. In fact, I decided that I am sick of being in the house right now. I want to get out and go do something but then I can't decide what I want to do. So I clean, and clean some more. Did I mention how much I don't like cleaning? Well, I don't mind the vacuuming and I don't mind wiping down the counters and the table. I don't even mind dusting that much. But, I really don't like to mop floors. Is anyone on track with me here? It's just dirty. First you have to clear the floor of everything, which takes me a while. Then you have to sweep, and then finally, just maybe you are ready to mop. I have these ceramic tile floors that are not a smooth surface so it's hard to get a good scrub. I guess I am just doing it all wrong, I don't know. I know this post is me just talking about how much I don't like cleaning the house everyday but it seems like I do it so much these days that it is a part of my daily routine. I am on my second load of laundry already today. I could do more, I could ALWAYS do more, but I think I will stop at two today. Also, getting on the computer and typing out my frustrations seems a good way to let it out. Aislynn is napping, so all is quiet. I don't have any new news today. I will add a few pics from the past couple of days. Hope everyone else is having a great day!!

Can Someone give me an "L"

I have been working on getting some letters to put up in Aislynn's new room. I found some that were in my price range and got my can of spray paint to make them pretty and pink. The only problem is, they were out of the letter L. I will have to keep checking periodically because Aislynn just isn't the same without L.

Not ME! Monday!

Welcome once again to Not Me! Monday! This very silly blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It's Monday evening once again. Mondays have become very eventful in our household. It's the first day of the work week, I should be getting a lot of things done. You know, things that you put off all weekend and say, "I'll get to that later." Well to start things off, I did not have to throw a load of laundry in the wash late yesterday so McKenna would have some clean clothes to wear today.

I also didn't spend my whole morning shopping across town when I should be at home getting things done. Oh well, it was fun and I found what I was looking for.

I would never promise my girls a sweet treat after dinner so I could indulge in some yummy ice cream too!!

McKenna is missing her two bottom teeth. She has trouble saying certain words and eating sometimes. I gave her an apple for a snack the other day. I did not let her convince me to peel the apple peel off so she could eat it better. We all know that all the "good" stuff is in the peel.

I know that I did some embarrassing things this past week but for some reason I am drawing a blank. So, I am going to tell you a little story from a few months ago. We were in the process of potty training Kambry. Aislynn was about a month and a half old at the time. We decided to take the family out to Chili's for dinner. I guess Kambry decided she needed to go potty, #2, and didn't tell us. So she had a dirty diaper and we needed to do something about it. I know what I am about to say sounds really gross but it was my solution to our problem. The problem was that once again, we were out of diapers in Kambry's size, so I told Bart to take the diaper off, clean it out the best he could and put it back on till we got home. He asked for one of Aislynn's diapers instead and I told him that there was no way that Kambry who was going on 3 years old could fit into a diaper made for a one month old. He convinced me that he could make it work some how or another. A few minutes later, Kambry and Bart returned to the table with a smile on their face. I said I would have to see it to believe it. Sure enough, he got that tiny diaper on Kambry. It was holding on by a thread. One big breath and it was sure to fly apart. The little diaper survived on her till we got home. When we did I got the camera out because I was laughing so hard at how silly she looked wearing it. I hope I never run into that situation again. So, for the record, I did NOT let my 2 1/2 year old wear a diaper made for my 1 1/2 month old.

A Day at the Doctor

The time has come once again for the yearly check-ups for the girls. McKenna and Kambry were both worried about getting shots. I told them that we had to ask the doctor if they needed any at this time. Aislynn is now 6 months old and keeps growing faster than I can keep up. I found myself saying the other day how she just felt like she grew overnight. She weighed more when I held her and felt longer and bigger laying next to me in bed.

Well, here are the stats: McKenna is 5 years old and weighed 39 lbs, she was 3 feet, 6 inches tall. She is very average for her age. Kambry on the other hand has always been small for her age. She is just a skinny little thing. I honestly don't know where she gets that. I knew when she stepped on the scale it would still be somewhere in the mid to high 20's and I was right. I remember last year for her 2 year check up she weighed around 24 or 25 lbs and she really hasn't gained much since. This year she was 28 lbs and was 3 feet, 1 inch tall. Last but not least was Aislynn. She weighed 14 lbs, 15 ounces and was 26 1/2 inches tall. She still does not like tummy time but I still try to make it fun and get her on her belly at least once a day. She likes trying to sit up. She can balance for a little bit but then tumbles forward, sideways, or back. I have a few pics of her practicing sitting this morning.

Mardi Gras Madness

This past Wednesday, the kids at McKenna's school got to have a little parade for Mardi Gras. It is popular here in Pensacola because of our proximity to New Orleans. Everyone seems to celebrate. This was her outfit they made. They even got to throw beads to the crowd. Of course this parade was PG rated. I think she had a great time.

Flower Hat

Here's Kambry with her brown hat and her bright pink flower on it. She looks so cute when she wears it. I need to get Aislynn and McKenna one so they can all match.

Headband Fun!!

I found this bag with all these headbands I bought for Aislynn and realized that I need to have her wear them and get some pics with them on. She is pretty good about leaving them on too. I think if she were a little older she would already be pulling them off the minute I put them on.

School Pics Today

McKenna had her first school pics today. Let's hope that she smiled pretty for the camera. I know she knows how because I take pictures of her all the time. I think sometimes she looks a little too "posed" for me. I can't believe that I am starting the collection of class photos already. I still remember looking back at mine and thinking how long ago that was.
We are also getting her signed up for a tee ball league so we have been practicing a little with the ball and glove. I hope it helps that I played so I teach her just as much at home. Of course at this age they are just looking to have fun. I think I already have a natural though. What do you think?

Kambry and Aislynn wanted to get in on the action too. It looks like I am building my own softball team.

In local news, Pensacola is celebrating it's 450th Birthday. Today we had royalty visiting our town. The King and Queen of Spain were here marking the 450th anniversary of the founding of the first European settlement in the continental United States. I heard that you could dine with royalty for $250 per person but I decided to pass. The thought did cross my mind though.

Picture Time

I have been taking more random pictures over the past week. I am hoping to capture some of those silly moments and just everyday moments that pass by too quickly. Here are a few pics that are my favorites.

"I think I am going to just lick my peanut butter off the bread"

"Sticking my tongue out while eating rice cereal is so much fun"

"You got me! I didn't want to smile, but you got me"

"Look at me, I can play the piano"

"Sister Love!!"

"I match my carseat"
"Giggle Time"

Not Me! Monday! Again!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

So I have decided to go for round two. I didn't just realize that today is Monday and not still Sunday. You see, my hubby has today off since it's President's Day. Whenever he is home I tend to believe it is still the weekend. So I find myself sitting here on the computer adding another blog at 9:00pm.

The past week and weekend went well. We were able to paint Aislynn's new room and get it ready for her to move into SOON!! The girls really wanted to help me paint and be a part of getting the room ready for Aislynn. I let them have one little square to paint but I would never let them see me go over that same area a couple of times to make sure it was painted well. Of course I should know that a 5 year old knows what they are doing when it comes to a paint brush.

I didn't take McKenna to get her hair cut so it would make combing it after her baths easier. Less hair=less tangles in my book.

I also have realized how hard it is to keep my kids names straight now that I have 3 girls. Even the animals get mixed in when the tough gets going. I didn't mean to say "Kambry" and say "Hemi" instead. I mean how hard is it to say the right name? Apparently much harder than I thought.

And last but not least we went to the mall yesterday. I didn't bribe my little ones with a ride on the carousel so I could go to my store first and then the Disney store.

Happy Valentine's Day

It's late on this Saturday of love but I thought I would write a quick note. I actually keep forgetting that it is Valentine's Day today because we already celebrated yesterday. Bart came home with a chocolate covered strawberry bouquet from Edible Arangements and a box of chocolates and a heart "I Love You" balloon. We ate up almost half of the strawberries after dinner. The girls helped me with the candy too. They just can't get enough. This morning we went to Krispy Kreme and had some heart shaped dounuts. They were so yummy but made me sick to my tummy because they are so sweet. It's been a while since I have had donuts in the morning. We did a little more shopping then did stuff around the house for the rest of the day. We are almost done getting Aislynn's room ready. The painting is done and is drying and the ceiling fan is up, now we just have to move everything and decorate....yeah!! I hope everyone out there remembers to tell their loved one just how much they mean to you. Sometimes we just don't say it often enough. Have a great day.

What's my Name? Car talk...

As I was driving with Kambry and Aislynn today to go pick McKenna up from school, I hear Kambry behind me talking. I turn down the radio to listen a little closer. You see, she has this sweet little quiet voice so sometimes it's hard to make out. She was saying, "My name is Kambry Lynn, your name is Aislynn Kate, and Mama's name is....Mama." I asked her again what my name was and she replied, "Mama." I explained to her that even though I was her mama and she called me that my real name that everyone calls me is Lindsay. She didn't seem to get it. Then I decided to keep going and asked her what Dadda's name was and she said, "I don't know." I told her it was Bart and she said, "oh, Bart." The funniest was when I asked her what McKenna's name was. She quickly responded, "Kenna Benna!" I busted out laughing and told Kambry that her real name was McKenna Haylie. I guess we call Kenna, Kenna Benna so much that Kambry thought it was her real name.

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

This is my first time to participate in Not Me! Monday! but I have found so much enjoyment from reading everyone else's that I decided to join the fun. I have found that even though I don't have a lot of free time around the house, I always make time to sit down and relax at the computer once a day.

My two older girls still take a bath together. It's a way of getting the job done quicker and letting them get some enjoyment out of playing together in the water. I admit I don't bathe them every day. If they are noticeably dirty they get bathed, but sometimes I think I just get the lazy bug. I didn't skip their bath on Friday night(which they needed)to sit down and watch a movie with a friend I invited over.

I would never let Kambry get out of finishing her dinner because I was still a little hungry and wanted to finish off her leftovers. I know I didn't need any more but those sloppy joes were just so good I had to have some more.

My littlest baby girl is approaching six months old this month. She still wakes regularly in the middle of the night to nurse. I have not worked much on weaning the night feedings as I had planned. I didn't just bring her to bed almost every night this week because I was too tired to sit up and feed her. I did not wake up with her next to me every morning this past week. And I did not let my 3 year old climb into bed with us and wake up to her head laying on top of the baby's. We explained to her that she must stay in her bed from now on.

I didn't accidentally take a water bottle from Lowe's and forgot I didn't pay for it until I was in the car driving away. The water quenched my thirst and the girls enjoyed it too. I guess you could say I was a thief this weekend.

I am sure there are more things I have done but for now that's all I can think of. Until next week....I will try to be better...hehe.

She found her foot

Aislynn is making me work to give her a diaper change these days. She likes to grab something, usually her foot and insert it into her mouth. Sometimes I give her the diaper to play with but when it comes time for me to take it away and put it on her she doesn't want to let go. It's amazing how flexible babies can be.

The Tooth Fairy forgot me

Yesterday, McKenna's second tooth that was ready to come out finally did. Of course it was with the help of daddy. He barely touched it and it fell out before McKenna even knew it did. Aparently, she didn't even feel it. She was so pround once again that she lost another tooth. Right away she went and got her little tooth fairy doll that we got for her over the Christmas holidays and put her tooth in the little pouch. I honestly forgot all about last night. This morning when she woke up, Bart went to go get her ready for the day and she just sat there looking all sad. He asked her what was wrong and she replied, " The Tooth Fairy let me keep my tooth but she didn't give me anything." So quick thinking and Bart replies, "well, just go potty for now, we will look around in your bed, maybe it fell out." Kenna came back into her room and she looked around a little more. Then she smiled really big and said that the tooth fairy left it (a quater) on top of there and pointed to her headboard. Thank goodness the tooth fairy didn't forget her. And, if that didn't make it bad enough, when she got to school this morning one of the other little girls lost a tooth yesterday too. She was holding up a dollar bill saying, "look what the tooth fairy brought me last night." I am sure McKenna doesn't really know the value of a dollar when she only got a quarter but she probably is wondering why she didn't get a doller too. I told her that maybe the tooth fairy was waiting for the top teeth before she got a dollar. Anyways, just wanted to share that story with you. Hope everyone out there keeps all their teeth.

Fun from this past weekend

This past weekend my friend Jennifer, from college, came to visit. It was so nice to have her here and be able to hang out and catch up from the past year or so. I realize how much I miss being in Texas and being able to get together with my friends from college. It's nice being forced to travel all over the United States but then again I wish I could choose where I wanted to live. On Saturday night, we went to a restaurant called McGuire's. It is a steakhouse with lots of personality. We had great food and conversation. The girls enjoyed going to the bathroom every 10 minutes. I think they just liked getting up and walking around. Then, on Sunday we were able to take her out to the beach and walk around on the white sands and see the beautiful blue green water and crashing waves. We even grabbed a cup full of shells for her to take back to Texas. All in all, it was a nice visit. We just all wish it would have lasted a little longer. I am posting a few pics, so enjoy.
