So today my friend, Lauren, who just had a baby a little over a week ago came over so I could take photos of her newborn baby girl. She is the littlest thing and has the tiniest features. Photographing a newborn proved to be much harder than I had thought it would be. She was so squirmy and wasn't happy to just lay there like I had hoped she would. So we took a few, we took a break, we took a few more, she went to eat, we took some more, and then she wanted to sleep. All in all it was successful. I had much higher hopes but I am satisfied since it was my first one since getting a DSLR. We are going to try to do family ones on Thursday and hopefully some more newborn ones in the upcoming weeks. Here are a few from today.

These look great!
For being squirmy, you sure did a great job with the pictures. That baby is adorable. Makes me think about having another.
very sweet :-) are you going to try to do photography on the side for an extra job? I told Ben that I would like to do a class and get a better camera & possibly pursue something like that if and when we move! Great shots!
Beautiful pictures. I wish I had your eye!
I think you did a fantastic job! Newborns sometimes are hard to shoot and I think you still captured her very well. Good job!!!
Those are BEAUTIFUL! I especially love the first one. Great job!
Great job! Newbors are hard - I just did a shoot myself and it was harder than I thought. :)
These turned out awesome! Cant wait to see the others you take. And thanks! I plan to go to college in the fall. I am working on getting a summer job but for now I am enjoying having nothing to worry about lol. And it certainly is: I never thought I would make it in the top 10!
great shots!
Oh my goodness what a sweet angel baby. You did a great job!
They look awesome!
you should feel proud...they are beautiful
Happy 7 years. Thats so neat that we share the same anniversary. I hope you guys have a nice fathers day and anniversary!
Precious pictures, you did a great job. I bet your friend really likes them.
I love the pictures you took of the baby, and baby & Mom. I think one of the things you will probably find is that you need lots of time to photograph BABIES! I think they are in control at that age, even though they are pretty helpless. My favorites are the 4th & 5th pics, but of course I love them all and can't wait to see more.
Aren't newborns exhausting?! Way to hang in there and present some very nice images. A tip is to place a heating pad, on a very low setting, under several layers under the baby. They need warmth and it lulls them to sleep. A lot of shushing and constant touching of the baby helps, too. Good luck Thursday!
Your photos are gorgeous. When did you start? Be proud of these.. they are wonderful!
