I woke up at 5:00 am when my alarm went off this morning. I rolled out of bed, still half asleep. The first thing I do it hop in the shower to help myself wake up. I was feeling pretty good after the shower and was deciding what to wear (the teal scrubs or the other teal scrubs..haha). Then...the phone rang. I knew exactly what it was. Who else would be calling me at 5:10 in the morning? It was work telling me that they had to put me on call because there weren't enough patients for me to come in today. So, I went back to bed...for thirty minutes, until I had to get up and get Kenna ready for school. Now I am awake, maybe I can find someone or something to take pictures of today. At least then my day won't be so unproductive.

The "P" Family Photoshoot
On Saturday I went to take photos of this lovely family for experience. The photographer taking their photos let me tag along and shoot as I wished. It was fun and I think I learned alot in the process. Since I was shooting in manual mode I many times forgot to change my settings when the sun popped out or when I turned to face another direction. Some photos were dark, some blown out, and some just right. It was a lot of fun and a great experience. Here are a few of my favorites. Feel free to give me feedback or any tips on family photo shoots and what works best for you. Thanks!

I Heart Faces "Blue"
I don't know if this really is what they are looking for this week for I Heart Faces but it's all I got. The picture is supposed to be of something blue. I took this a couple of weeks ago when I was getting ready to do a photo shoot of a cute baby girl. I had this blue blanket draped over the back of my couch and gave Aislynn her mailbox to play with. Click here to see the original post and a cute sequence of photos of her playing with her mailbox. I know she is very happy in this photo and I know that she doesn't have to be sad..i.e. "blue" so this is what I chose. Enjoy!

First Soccer Games
Both girls wanted to play soccer this year. So, we signed them up! They were so excited this morning as they were getting dressed for their first soccer game. Kambry is on a three year old team and McKenna plays with 4-6 year old boys and girls. The coach was impressed with McKenna for going after the ball and keeping up with all the boys. He said that she looks like a little Mia Hamm. I am thinking if she keeps this up that soccer may be "her" sport. Remember, this was only her first game ever but I am hoping the future only gets better. Kambry had lots of fun too. She is still a little confused as to why she can't grab the ball with her hands and is not as aggressive as McKenna, but she is only 3 1/2 and has never played any sport before so we are very proud of her for trying. All that matters is that she had a great time. She even scored a goal! Here are the girls before we left for the game.
Some game time shots.
After it was all over. They are looking forward to next week.

Fix It Friday #30
I survived yet another week. Since I don't have to work today and I get some time to myself I decided to participate in another Fix It Friday. This photo proved to be a little more difficult than last weeks. What a cute little blondie though. Here is the original.
And here is what I came up with. I know they could probably still use some work but I am happy with the result.
If you want to play along, go to I Heart Faces and see what you can do. Have a great weekend everyone.

I Heart Faces "Completely Candid"
A couple months ago Aislynn was busy chomping away at her snack of puffs and apple juice. She looked so cute sitting there so I grabbed my camera a started snapping. She was caught off guard and was not about to stop her sipping to look up at me. This weeks theme at I Heart Faces is Completely Candid. This is the best I could come up with.

Knockouts and Strikes
This past weekend we had a great time doing things as a family. On Saturday morning the "daddy" woke up really early to get ready for his marathon training run. Turns out that about 5 minutes later it was pouring down rain so he waited for it to slow down before venturing out for the 2o mile run he was about to do. The girls woke up ready for breakfast. I fed them something little and we hopped in the car to go find "daddy" and head to the post office. It was already so hot but he was doing great. We stopped at a gas station that he was about to pass and all the girls cheered him on. Then we picked up some yummy breakfast(since it was our cheat day for our diet, and yes, I do like having a cheat day). After my hubby was back from his 20 miles, he was ready for a nice shower and some relaxing. Then, we headed out to the mall to get McKenna more shoes and grab some lunch. The girls really wanted to go bowling so we said, "Why not?" and found the closest bowling ally to us. We played just one game but they had so much fun, we will definitely go back. I took a bowling class in college and though I didn't do as good as I would have liked to, I still was able to bowl a few strikes.
We finished the evening with dinner at Famous Daves. It was very yummy! I even saw a rainbow in the sky.
On our way home we picked up some ice cream to enjoy that night. As we were laying on the couch watching college football, I was taking turns giving the girls a back rub. Then it was their turn to give me one. It was so relaxing until Jake(our dog) came up and was trying to lick my face. As I turned to swat at him somehow McKenna's face was right where my hand was headed and before I knew it I swatted her in the mouth and out popped a tooth. I guess I knocked her in the right spot and the upper right incisor flew into her hand. She had this look of surprise on her face. I looked into her mouth to see that the lower one on the same side was ready to come out too. So, we got a rag and before we knew it McKenna had lost two teeth within a few minutes of each other. The tooth fairy was busy last night. After McKenna's teeth came out, Kambry says to me, "Mama, I don't want to loose my teeth." I think she saw the look on McKenna's face when I accidentally knocked that first one out. After a little talking she is okay with it now. What a Saturday it was. Sunday, we just did some grocery shopping and then I went to work. It was a nice steady night. Not to busy, not to slow.

Wow, I haven't done a Fix It Friday in a while but this week I was drawn into it with that beautiful little red headed girl. It's always fun to see how everyone changes the photo and get ideas on how to make yours better. Here is the original photo.

What I have been up to
I just realized that I never really posted much about my visit to Texas from August. We had so much fun in the little time we spent there. First we headed to the Dallas area to see my mother in law and sister in law. We played around with the horses a bit and got the girls to sit on a couple of the miniature horses. It was cute!
Grammy bought them new boots and I have to say that they looked so cute in those little cowgirl boots.
I will have to find reasons for them to wear them out because they look great on. We ate at Babe's (which I love) and my hubby and I even got to go out dancing with some friends from college.
It was lots of fun but I realized how long it's been since I have been dancing. I felt like I was spinning out of control at times but luckily I was dancing with guys who knew what they were doing even if I didn't. After Dallas we headed to College Station to see Aggieland again and meet up with more friends from college. We got some yummy food and great company. The girls met a couple of cute little boys and had so much fun playing at their house. Then we drove to Austin to see my mom for the rest of our visit. While in Austin we did a little shopping, a lot of eating yummy Texas food, swimming at the pool, getting together with more college friends, celebrated Aislynn's birthday and got to go out dancing one more time. We had a ton of fun but can't wait to go back.
Today I worked. It was a somewhat busy day but not too busy. There is always that fine line at work that I like. If you don't have enough to do the time goes by too slowly but if you are overwhelmed then you feel as if you can't even take a break. Today was just the right amount of busy. Enough for the day to go by fast but where I didn't get stressed. I hope to have many more days like that. I think I will be doing many more photo shoots for the ladies at my work. They are lining up to get pictures done and I can't wait to work on my skills.

I Heart Faces "Contemplative"
It has been a long time since I have participated because I have been so busy but I knew I wanted to get back to it. When I first saw the theme for this week at I Heart Faces I wasn't sure what photo I should use. Then, I remembered the photo I just took of that sweet baby girl that came over last week. She is only 4 months old but gave me some of the silliest expressions. I wish I could get into her head and know what she is thinking. Here is my entry for this week.

Aislynn and her mailbox
Back to Taking Pictures of Babies
Have I mentioned before how much I enjoy photographing babies? You never know what to expect even if you are fully prepared. This little sweetie came over yesterday to get some photos taken. She is 4 months old and didn't know what to think of me. She loved to eat her hands, every chance she got they were in her mouth. I guess teething is hard work. Trying to get her to smile was a little difficult too but I still think they turned out cute. I can't wait for the weather to cool off a bit so we can start doing more outdoor pictures.

Trying to figure this all out
I have been trying to figure out how to make my photos post in larger sizes. I decided to try using my Flickr account to do that and this is what I got. YEAH! I am very excited. Now you can actually see the photo a little better. Please be kind to me as I may start to have long posts with lots of photos. I just like them so much better when they are big.

Sandy Beachy Fun
We decided to head out to the beach this past weekend. It was cloudy and overcast on Sunday but the chances for rain were even higher on Monday so we decided to make the most of it. The day turned out ok, the girls had a great time. Monday morning comes around and the sun is shining. Since we were two weeks behind on mowing the lawn we decided to do that first and then head back to the beach in the afternoon. By time we got there it was cloudy and light rain. We stuck it out, the rain stopped and it cleared a little. Maybe next time we go it will actually be sunny and clear. Here are a few pics I snapped on Sunday. I think Aislynn had mixed emotions about the beach
