Okay so it wasn't our first triathlon, it was my husband's first triathlon. I didn't know what to expect, but he was as ready as he could be. We were hoping for good weather, and we got it.
This past Saturday we all woke up early, I packed up the girls and we drove to Pensacola Beach to go and cheer on "Daddy" for his "race" as I called it. There were so many people but everyone looked so excited to be there. We started off on the beach and watched as the swimmers swam in the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico. There were some really awesome athletes there. I think the top time was around 1 hour! Wow, could you imagine swimming 600 yards, biking 18 miles, and then running a 5K all in one hour?
We all agreed that daddy did pretty good for it being his first time and all. He finished in 1 hour and 35 minutes. He is hoping to shave some time off next time. If any of you are triathloners out there, please share your tips on training and competing. Here are a few photos of the day.
At the end of October he heads to Washington D.C. for the Marine Corps Marathon. He ran it last year and it looking forward to doing even better this year.
