Our Trip to the Zoo

I don't live in a big city. I don't have a big zoo.
We wanted to take the girls out to do something because the weather has been so nice the past few days. So, we decided to go the small zoo we have about 45 minutes from our house. The girls had a great time. We saw many different animals, took a short train ride, and fed a some animals too. The girls wanted to stay all day but mama was getting hot and Aislynn was getting tired and hungry. So we did all we could do and then headed home. Here are a few of the things we saw.

Let's have a great week!!
One more thing: My friend Jennifer just welcomed her second baby boy on May 28th. He is so precious. So congrats to JEN and baby Parker!!

Show Us Where you Live Friday - Children's Rooms and Nurseries

I have only participated in one Show US Where You Live Friday over at Kelly's Korner but this week I decided to join in. I would not say that I have the cutest rooms or anything. I lack decorating skills and I usually let the kids win when it comes to their room. I want everyone to be happy. I will warn you...it's a bit messy but I am not supermom!! Here is McKenna and Kambry's room:The first photo is a view from their bedroom door. Notice Aislynn at the bottom of the picture. She likes to keep me in sight at that age. The girls picked out their bedding from Target. Of course it doesn't match. I also didn't bother with making McKenna's bed. She likes it that way anyways. I really like the bunkbeds I got them. I can assemble it as is, have a two twins bunks, two separate twin beds, or a twin and a full separate beds. So many options it's great.

This little girly chandelier I just love! I am not however a fan of the popcorn ceiling...I wish I could blink my eyes and it would be gone.

Then I have a view from by the window of the messy bookshelves that hold all their book and other stuff. And also a view from their beds that shows the armoir, toy box, and chest of drawers.

Then I have Aislynn's room. I haven't really done much to it since we moved her in their right after Christmas. I put her name up and that's about it.

The baby bed was actually mine when I was a baby and all three of my girls have used it. I have a total mix match of furniture because I could really find anything to match the bed anyways and I have the big dresser that matches the older girls room in here too. Eventually I am going to get Aislynn a twin bed that matches the girls so I can move them from room to room when they get older and everything will go together.

I got this basket to keep her baby toys in and I think it looks really cute.
So, there you have it. Those are my children's rooms. Won't you play along too?? Head on over to Kelly's Korner and link up.

Fix It Friday #15

Every Friday over at I Heart Faces they have a photo ready for fixing. This week it is of this darling little girl. Here is the original photo.

And here are my fixes using Picnik. I feel like I can do so much with it even though I don't have any expensive editing software.

The stink is in the dog

Our dog is stinky.
There, I said it. I am not a fan of stinky dogs. I know I should be more open to the idea that having a dog could mean putting up with the stink, but I just don't like it. We got Jake as a puppy and he didn't really smell then. As he grew, so did his smell. My husband and I both thought it was because he had longer hair. I guess we were wrong. When we went on vacation last week we took him to be boarded and also groomed. We decided to get his hair cut short in hopes that it would keep him cooler and our house less smelly. At first I thought it worked, but then after just a couple of days I could smell him again. Mostly it was after he was outside playing in the hot weather.
Oh well. He is cute even so.

It was worth a try. Now I am back to figuring out how to keep my house smelling good, even with the dog. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?? I am open to ideas.

I have a NEW...

JOB! I have been thinking about going back to work for a couple of months now but haven't really been pursuing it too hard. I applied here and there and out of the blue I got a phone call last week Saturday(the day I left for vacation) from the Director of L&D at a local hospital. She had somehow lost my application and was wondering if I was still interested...of course I was. So today I went it and had a "mini" interview and was offered the job. She said I can start when ever I am ready to, so now I just have the ordeal of figuring out child care. I am just going to work on a very part time basis but I am very excited to get back in the workforce and do what I love(besides being a mom, wife, and wannabe photographer). I will be rotating through Labor and Delivery, post partum, nursery and GYN patients. I can't wait to learn more. I really love the whole birth process, I know some people think I am crazy but that's just who I am. It amazes me.

I Heart Faces "Silhouette"

I have never actually tried a silhouette photo before. I know I have accidentally stumbled upon them and probably most of them I have deleted. So, I didn't have anything to choose from. I also have not been working on getting a good shot. Anyways, sorry to disappoint this week but here is my attempt at a silhouette. McKenna was having so much fun catching bugs on her finger and them blowing them away. I think it's neat how you can clearly see the little critter on her finger. Her hair...well it's another story..messy as usual. Check out I Heart Faces for more silhouette entries. There are some really talented people out there.

Details of our trip! I Heart Faces makeover.

I did a post a few weeks ago about my trip to Disney World. This week at I Heart Faces they are doing a "My Trip in Pictures" week. So I just revamped it a little and voila, here it is. Sorry for all the boring details, you can skip them if you want and just look at the photos.

So we set out and headed east on Saturday morning for Disney World (the greatest place on earth). The drive went well, we ended up getting to our hotel around 6 pm which is good considering we lost an hour due to the time change. After we got all settled we ate some yummy pizza (if you have not tried Domino's white garlic Parmesan sauce instead of the marinara you are missing out), then we took a little walk around the pool area. The girls wanted to jump right in but we assured them they had plenty of time to swim later in the week(little did we know what was to come).

On Sunday we decided to start at the Magic Kingdom. It was a bit crowded and kinda hot. We stood in lines and did what we could before the rain started. That evening we left just in time to get out before we got too wet.

Monday started out okay. We went to Epcot and were able to do a few things before the rain started. We were not prepared for the rain so we broke down and bought ponchos. We even had to use one on the stroller so it wouldn't be soaking wet with our little ones in it. Rain, rain, rain the rest of the day.

Tuesday we woke up and it was still raining. We took a chance and went back to the Magic Kingdom. We treaded through rain all day. I think it stopped briefly for lunch but not even long enough to dry out. Of course I made the mistake of wearing tennis shoes instead of flip flops so I had wet squishy feet the whole day. We really wanted to stay to see the fireworks but around 6:30pm I just couldn't take it anymore. We left and went back to the hotel to dry off.

Wednesday was our first day at Animal Kingdom. The girls loved it here and we survived half of the day dry before the floods came in. That was were I took most of my shots of animals. By the way, I am serious about the floods. It was just before 2pm and we decided to stop in and watch a bird show. We parked the stroller headed on in and got a seat at the top of the bleachers so we could rest our backs. As we are waiting for the show to begin the rain was light. The show started but about 5 minutes into it they had to stop because of the weather. Then the rain really started coming down. Thunder and lightning and the whole nine yards. We were in an area that had was kind of like a tent in a way. It had big cloth pieces above us that were sewn together. Here is the best picture I have of it. Anyways, as the rain came down the cloth started collecting water and you could see the weight coming down. Eventually one of them broke through and water was pouring in. It was quite a sight to see. We thought the rain was finally slowing down so instead of sitting in one place all day we decided to make a break for it and walk to another area of the park. That's when we found the stroller to be in about 5 inches of water. The wheels were completely under water and it was very cold on my flip flop covered feet. Needless to say the day ended just like that..rainy and wet.

Thursday was our last day at Disney World and we were hoping for the best but very prepared for the rain. I will have to say that it turned out perfectly. It was overcast and breezy because it was threatening rain at any time yet we only had a couple of sprinkles until the evening.
I think being there with all the rain just makes me want to go back that much sooner so maybe I can enjoy it in dry weather. Considering the conditions we were able to still do alot of the things. It was definitely a trip to remember. Here are some more photos from last week.

I had originally done two posts of pictures from Disney. I couldn't combine them so here is the link to the other post if you are interested in looking at the other pictures. Thanks for stopping by!!

Disney in Pictures

I couldn't post all of my photos from Disney so for now I am posting some of my favorites. Each time I go through my folder of pictures I find more and more I like. Since it rained for over three of the five days I was actually at the parks I did what I could considering. I wish I would have had more of an opportunity to do more creative photos but I was just glad to enjoy the time we did have when not in the rain. I did have to throw in at least one rain photo so you know what I was dealing with most of the time. I will post more about the actual vacation later but for now enjoy!
