Finally getting ready for spring

Now that our grass has returned to a somewhat green color we have decided that we should start getting the yard in order for outdoor play. It has been nice weather here for a good month and we haven't been outside as much as we should. When we moved into our house last year we weren't in love with the landscaping...there just wasn't much to it. Now we want to make our yard a place we want to hang out and look at and say...Wow, that's nice!! So we are in the process of digging up little bushes we don't like, taking away all the bark stuff that floats away at each big rain and replacing it with a little sod, some new plants that add color and some really neat landscaping rocks we found yesterday. We need a large amount of rocks and it just doesn't make sense to buy one bag at a time so we looked into places that sell it in bulk. After only 5 minutes of discussion we knew what we wanted and think it's going to look great. So wish me luck with all of this. I have no green in my thumb so I hope that everything lives throught the summer. Any suggestions are always welcome. I will have to post some before and after pics once we get our hands dirty.

Fun with Photos

Today, I one of my friends that's pregnant right now came over so I could take some pregnancy pictures of her. I used her camera since I only have my little old point and shoot still. It was so much fun and now I am even more excited about getting my own "real" camera soon. Sure, I can still take decent pics with the one I have but it's just not the same quality when it comes to editing them. I also don't have as many choices when it comes to settings. So, for today, I set up a make shift studio in my living room and we starting shooting. I think we ended up with a little over a hundred to choose from. Here's just a little preview. I love looking at pregnant bellies...don't you??

I Heart Faces - Reflection

This week over at I Heart Faces the theme was "reflection", literally. My creative side ceased to exist this week so here is what I have. The first is my kids entry. The girls let me take pictures of them if I let them dress up. So they I let them where whatever they wanted knowing I would probably only be getting their upper body or face anyways. I couldn't decide between McKenna's picture or Kambry's picture but this is the one I finally decided on.

And here is my adult entry. My hubby would have let me take pictures of him but I was so indecisive as to what I wanted that I just decided to try by myself. This is all I came up with. It is one of my engagement pictures. I wish I looked now how I looked then. Oh well, life goes on.

It's all in the edit

Here are some pictures of Kambry that I took when my mom was visiting last week. I edited them all with a sepia tone and loved how they turned out. Though my mom would say that she likes them in color better, I like to play with all types of coloring whether it be black and white, sepia, faded color, or vibrant color. It's just fun to see what you can do when you take the time to learn and practice. Let me know what you think or what I could do differently.

This one is my personal favorite of the three!!

Fix It Friday #11

This is actually my first fix it Friday and I am so excited to do some photo editing!! Here is the original photo.
And here is MY fix.
I like how it turned out. I fixed a few baby blemishes and softened it up a bit. Then I rotated and cropped it to bring it in a little. Lastly I gave it a glowing effect. I think that baby looks brilliant....don't you?? Hop of over to I Heart Faces to try it yourself or see what others are doing with their fixes.

8 Months and Counting

Another month has gone by oh so quickly. Aislynn is now 8 months old. Where is my little baby going? She's growing too fast. I will have to say though..this child is one of her own. She is nothing like her sisters at all. From the beginning she wanted to be different. During her birth she decided to get stuck from the shoulders down. It took lots of pulling and pushing to get her out. Then she decided she did not like her car seat at all the first few months. The other girls always did fine in theirs. Aislynn had many moments of crying for no understandable reason. I am glad that didn't last too too long. She has been much more vocal than the other two girls. She is constantly making the sounds, "da, da, and na, na, and maybe sometimes I can make out a mama." She does the raspberry sound where she blows spit bubbles out of her mouth. On Monday afternoon we were driving to Kenna's t-ball game and the car was very quiet: no radio, no kids talking, no TV. I guess that Aislynn decided that if no one else was going to make noise that she would. We heard her making spit bubbles for 5 minutes straight. It was so funny, I wish I had my video camera to record it. She won't take a bottle. It's not really that big of a deal because I am still just nursing her all the time but if I were to want to do something without her one day it would be nice for her to take a bottle every now and then. I have been trying sippy cups and she sometimes will entertain the idea. This child is making me work!! Also, she is a lazy baby. If I lay her down on the floor she will just lay there. She won't even roll over or anything. I sit her down to play and she just sits there. She will try to reach for things but that's about as much activity as she will give me. I am not in a hurry for her to start moving about the house by any means...then I would have to chase her, but it would be nice to see her try to do something. I guess her time will come one day. Okay so now for her stats..weight:16lbs, 4 oz. length:27 1/2 inches.

Today is my friend Meg's 29th Birthday!! So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Meg. I don't know if she wanted me to say how old she is but I think we should embrace the fact that this is our last year in our 20's. It's slipping by so quickly. I know you can't go out and party like a rock star tonight Meg so have an extra piece of cake for me. Don't worry about the calories, you will need them anyways!!HA!!

Surgery

Stellan is in surgery this morning for an ablation of his heart to try and stop the SVT that has been going on for the past month. This procedure is risky for someone his size. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers this morning as he is in surgery. In support we are wearing anything orange we can find. Thank you.

I Heart Faces Contest-Self Portrait

I was so excited about this week. Since my mom was in town I was able to use her camera(which is much nicer than mine) to take a self portrait. My arms only stretch so far so beware, it's a close up!! I leaned agaist the fence in the back yard and was able to catch a little bit of the green grass. I was pleased how it turned out after cropping and touching it up a bit. What do you think?? Any feedback is great!!

Head on over to I Heart Faces to see what others are posting this week.

What is Better?

What is better than a clean baby just out of the tub? She's so warm, soft, and cuddly!! I love the smell of her hair, the touch of her skin and the big "I love you" smiles. What a great evening...just look at this sweet face.
On another good note, the tooth is OUT!! Kenna needed a little persuading but finally the tooth came out. Wow, what a relief. I think she is just glad that we aren't bugging her about getting it out anymore and the tooth fairy just might drop by. In preparation for our Disney World vacation coming up next month we decided to get a Mickey Mouse puzzle to get in the spirit. We worked on it for about 3-4 days off and on and this is how it turned out. It is a puzzle of pictures, really cool but hard to do. We think we might frame it and put it up in the girls room or the playroom.

Pajamas are great!

I got up super early this morning to take my mom to the airport. It was sad to see her go, I know she had a great time with us and we liked having her visit. Now that Nana is gone it's back to the same ole thing and we are having a lazy Sunday in our pajamas. By the way pajamas are great!! I can't believe that the week it about to start all over again.
On another note, Kenna is working on wiggling out her other top front tooth. She lost the left one on Easter and the right one has been loose ever since. I doubt she will get it out but if so I will have to post a picture of the toothless girl I have. I guess it makes it much harder to eat without those two front teeth.
Here's a couple of pics of McKenna playing T-Ball. She is getting so much better. My little girl is growing up so fast.

Fancy Fritter Bright Flower Shirt and Skirt Set Giveaway!!

The Fancy Fritter is having a giveaway for a super cute little girl's outfit. She makes some really cute other things too. Check it out and enter by Monday 4/20/2009 for your chance to win!!

Thank you!!!

I have been meaning to do this "Thank You" post for a few days now. We have been so busy around here with my mom visiting that I haven't taken the time to sit down and blog like I usually do. A couple of weeks ago I won this adorable bow holder from Kelly over at Two Kids, A Minivan and A Lot of Love. It arrived a few days ago and I absolutely love it!!!! The pinks are so pretty and the little pink rhinestones really add to it. The girls are already fighting over it so I may just have to order one for Kambry so they can each have their own. If you are in need of a bow holder you should hop on over to Kelly's blog and let her know. Today has been a nice and relaxing Saturday. We have been sitting around taking pictures, watching the girls play t-ball in the backyard, and enjoying some wonderful Blue Bell ice cream (my favorite).

Date Night

Last night I was able to go out on a dinner date with the hubby thanks to my mom!! We didn't leave the house until the girls were all ready for bed and then we were off to the Fish House. When we got to the restaurant and said "table for two" it was kinda weird. It had been so long since it was just the two of us. The hostess led us past the bar and to the other side of the restaurant where we thought she was going to sit us down at a lovely table for four in the corner. Nope!! She kept going and brought us to this little tiny table for one and a half. I guess that's what it's like getting a table for two. Immediately thoughts of where is the high chair gonna fit went through our minds. We just kind of looked at each other and then sat down as if disappointed we didn't have our little ones here to score us a seat at the big table. We then ordered an appetizer called scallops risotto. We watch Hell's Kitchen and always see them make risotto but neither of us have ever tried it, so we finally decided to. It was yummy. The scallops were really good. We enjoyed a nice evening of wining and dining minus the whining. Here is picture I took before we left...who knows when it will happen again.
Yesterday morning my mom and I were able to do a little photoshoot with Aislynn and Kambry. Here are a couple of my favorites.

The last few days

We have been busy busy busy here with Nana visiting. Monday we were running around town dropping McKenna off and picking her up from school. Then we had a birthday party to go to, and finally we ended the night with a t-ball game that was quite muddy from all the rain. Tuesday we played outside and did some shopping at Target...I had to get my weekly trip in. Then today we have been busy making things for my ETSY shop and buying cute clothes for the girls to take pictures in. We are hoping to get a little mini photoshoot in tomorrow. Let's hope the girls cooperate for us. Here are some pics from the past couple of days.

I Heart Faces Photography Blog

I found out about the I Heart Faces website through Hey Mama, Where's My.. and decided I should enter the contest. I am definitely still in the amateur catagory. Hope you like it too. Here is Kambry being silly while taking pictures on Saturday.

Not ME! Monday!

Is it already Monday again? I hope everyone had a great weekend. Now's the time to air out all our dirty laundry. This blog carnival was started by MckMama. She is still by Stellan's side in the hospital but I decided to continue the tradition because I know that one day soon she will be back to her normal, typing away at all the embarrasing things she DID NOT do.

I did not go out and buy candy on Saturday, give almost all of it my kids, and then proceed to let them eat it all day long yesterday.

I did not tell McKenna that her tooth fell out yesterday because of all the chocolate she ate.

I did not overload my plate, go back for seconds, and then eat dessert even though I was already stuffed.
I know that was a short one...I guess that's a good thing, RIGHT??

Couch Potato

Aislynn had fun lounging around on the couch today. I would have been doing the same except I was doing laundry, cleaning the kitchen, doing the dishes, folding clothes, changing diapers, making lunch, running around town doing errands, and finding time to go to the bathroom. My day wasn't really as busy as it sounds, I just like to ramble sometimes. Have a good one everybody!!

101 things about ME(and my family)

In honor of my 100th post on Monday I wanted to do something special. Since this is technically my 101st post I have decided to say 101 things about me or my family. So here goes...I am not sure how long this will take me to write but I'll give it a try.

1. I am sick right now-not bad sick but just a head cold and watery eyes, runny nose, and a headache. Yet, I am still sitting here on this computer when I should just go lay down.
2. I am an only child-for the most part. I have two half sisters but they are older than me and we never lived in the same house.
3. I love taking pictures, but you probably already guessed that.
4. I played volleyball, softball, and a little basketball in high school. Softball was my favorite sport...I miss it sometimes.
5. In college I was on a country and western dance team, it was tons of fun. We travelled all around doing performances.
6. I met my husband in college. He was graduating and I was starting my sophomore year. We dated long distance for 3 years and made it work somehow.
7. Since being married I have lived in 4 different states in 7 years.
8. I have plans for at least one more child sometime in the future. We aren't going to find out the sex...whatever it is, we will love it.
9. I don't know if I will want to stop at 4 kids or have more. I just love having babies.
10. All three of my girls were born in the noon hour. McKenna 12:48pm, Kambry 12:28pm and Aislynn 12:47pm
11. Wow, it's going to take me a long time to get to 101, but I will try.
12. I have two cats and one dog. We used to have a fish, but he didn't last too long.
13. I actually enjoy watching football with my husband. It was so much more fun when I actually knew what was going on.
14. I am really loving staying at home with the girls right now. I love my job as a nurse but it doesn't replace how nice it is to see my girls grow and be able to spend as much time with them as I want.
15. Aislynn got her second tooth today...YEAH!!
16. I got married wearing my cowboy boots. You couldn't even see them under the wedding dress, so no one really knew unless I showed them.
17. I miss Texas. I was born and raised in Austin and would love to go back someday.
18. I have become kind of addicted to blogging. It's fun to meet new people and relate to their stories or lives.
19. I am praying for little Stellan and hope that he heals soon.
20. It is fun making headbands for the girls. I probably spend more time on it than I should but they are just so darn cute.
21. My favorite color is blue. But at the same time, I am not that picky and like most colors..just not burnt orange, it is UT's school color.
22. Did I mention that I went to Texas A&M? It was the best 4 years I could have asked for.
23. My lips are chapped and burning right now.
24. I am so glad that I have three girls. I honestly don't know what I would do with boys.
25. My husband is a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Since it is basketball season right now, he is a die hard San Antonio Spurs fan.
26. He misses Texas too, can you tell?
27. My cat peed on my bed yesterday. So now my comforter is at the cleaners for a week. He is in big big trouble.
28. I really wanted a pizza for dinner, but went with the frozen dinner instead. It was ok, just ok.
29. Kambry decided to pee on my floor this morning, I guess she was just too busy playing to take a break and go to the potty.
30. I love Target. A store just opened up near my house and I go there probably 2-3times a week. Can you blame me?
31. We are taking a family trip to Disneyworld next month. We are so excited. I haven't been there since I was 10 years old.
32. My mom is coming to visit soon. We are excited to have her here.
33. That's how old my husband is...33.
34. I don't like to do laundry. The washing isn't so bad, it's the folding I would rather do without.
35. I am over a third of the way done...just barely, but getting there.
36. I love taking walks in the evening to enjoy the nice weather. Today was a little chilly compared to the past few days but still nice.
37. I miss having a quiet house every now and then.
38. I am glad my house is filled with noise...children playing, babies babbling, husbands yelling at the TV(remember he is watching the Spurs play)
39. Just kidding, he not really yelling at the TV, just giving suggestions to the refs.
40. I am starting to get tired already.
41. I love Blue Bell ice cream. I should not be so addicted but I am.
42. I also love Dr Pepper. Those are my weaknesses.
43. I really miss all my friends and family in other states. I wish I could be closer to them all.
44. Life as a military wife has its ups and its downs. It's my life and I wouldn't change a thing.
45. My husband and I are very supportive of each others dreams. Well, I guess I am not all that supporting of his dream of owning a motorcycle...but one day I am sure he will get it.
46. Are we half way yet?
47. I love to take showers. I usually take at least two a day. I don't know what it is, I guess just the feeling of being really clean.
48. I am known for falling asleep on the couch when watching a movie. I am like the girls, just get me to stay still for a while and I am out like a light.
49. I enjoy watching Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice and Dexter. I also watch American Idol, Amazing Race, and Hell's Kitchen. Where do I find time? A DVR and fast forward. I usually watch 10 minutes at a time while breastfeeding.
50. That's a good number, it means I am half way.
51. I was an A student in high school, a B student in college.
52. I don't like being cold. I guess it's good that I live in Florida huh?
53. I love the Florida beaches. They are so pretty with the white sands that sparkle with gold.
54. My favorite number is 9. I am not sure why, it's just my number.
55. On the other hand my lucky number is 21. I was born on the 21st, my husband was born on the 21st, we met on the 21st, got married on the 21st and almost had Aislynn on the 21st, she was born on the 22nd.
56. Raising three girls is difficult at times but the best thing in the world. They are my joy and I am so grateful to have three healthy girls.
57. I am not much of a night owl. I am usually in bed by 11pm, sometimes 10pm. I would much rather get up in the morning but lately sleeping in is the way to go.
58. I have lost almost all of my baby weight. I am still working on it though.
59. I feel like I have been working on this for an hour already.
60. My headache is worse now, maybe I should take a motrin.
61. I am a clean freak even though I don't actually like cleaning.
62. I can be a little obsessive over certain things. My husband probably even deems me crazy at times.
63. I don't like cigarette smoke at all. I have actually never even tried a cigarette.
64. I am very emotional all the time, it's just worse when I am pregnant.
65. I have decided to go to bed for now...be back in the morning.
66. It is Wednesday now, and I am feeling much better.
67. I collected baseball cards as a kid.
68. I still have a box full of them somewhere in storage.
69. I was kind of a tomboy growing up.
70. I like country music. I was happy that Carrie Underwood won Entertainer of the Year as the ACMs on Sunday.
71. I can't wait to get outside today and enjoy the beautiful weather.
72. I drive an SUV because I just couldn't see myself in a minivan...we looked at them though.
73. I have 5 friends that are pregnant right now. I am so excited for them all.
74. My girls are growing up way too fast. McKenna is soaking up information like a sponge.
75. My favorite food is Mexican...well, I guess actually Tex-Mex.
76. Did I mention already that I miss Texas?
77. I also miss Texas BBQ. I can't wait to get some when I go back to visit.
78. I cut my hair last month for the first time since last May. I guess things like that get put on the back burner when you are busy with kids.
79. I like soaking in a hot tub...I just don't have much time to do that either.
80. I really want to get a new camera...I know I already said that in a previous post, but it's still on my mind.
81. McKenna decided that now she wants to play soccer instead of t-ball. I told her maybe next season but she needed to finish t-ball first.
82. I can't believe that Easter is this weekend already. Wow, the time has flown by.
83. I talk to my mom on the phone probably about 4-5 times a week. It's nice to be close yet so far away.
84. I loved NKOTB(New Kids On The Block) growing up. My favorite was Joe. I had posters, videos, tapes, and who knows what else that was NKOTB.
85. I had cereal for breakfast...I like Cinnamon Life.
86. I don't like coffee. I don't like drinks that are hot for that matter. The only kind of hot chocolate I like is from a coffee shop...the good kind.
87. I like ice in my milk. I like it really really cold.
88. I enjoy reading my friends blogs and keep up with their life too.
89. I am getting close to number 101...yeah.
90. I need to clean my bathrooms today...did I already mention that I don't like cleaning, I just like the results.
91. McKenna and Kambry are pretending to be ballerinas in the living room right now.
92. My husband was happy that the Spurs won the basketball game last night.
93. We actually have a Build-A-Bear that is a frog and he has on a Spurs jersey.
94. We can be sports fanatics at times.
95. I don't have a bathing suit that fits right now. I guess I should get one soon if I want to go to the beach and get a tan.
96. Aislynn loves sitting and playing with the baby piano. She is getting really good.
97. I got my car cleaned on Monday...a very thorough cleaning. It is probably the cleanest it has been since I bought it a year and a half ago.
98. I am running out of things to say...can you tell?
99. I love flip flops.
100. Aislynn is telling me she wants some cereal right now.
101. I am officially done and it took me around 2 1/2 hours to write this post.

I couldn't end without a picture so here is one of Kambry from a couple of days ago. I think it turned out so pretty.

One more thing...HAPPY BIRTHDAY KENDRA!! Hope you have a great day.

100th Post and Not Me! Monday!

Wow, I can't believe that I have hit the one hundred mark already. I started this blog in order to keep family and friends updated on my daily life since I don't live near any of them. Now I have met new friends and learned many things in the process. I would have done something fun with my 100th post but I am sick today and not feeling up to it. Maybe I can take a rain check for myself and later this week find 100 things to talk about. We'll see.

Now, on to Not ME! Monday! This blog carnival was created by Mckmama and you can check out her blog here. Her baby boy Stellan is still in the hospital battling bouts of SVT. He is staying strong throughout all of this. Please continue to pray for this precious little boy. Some of my items listed on Etsy say-Praying for Stellan in the title. Portions of the proceeds of those items will be donated to a fund to help the family in these times.

I did not put off doing housework for almost three days. I mean who really needs clean clothes, a clean floor, clean dishes, and a clean bathroom. I also did not let my shower get so dirty that my husband broke down and cleaned it for me. I would never admit how much I hate cleaning showers and just not do it in hopes that he would do it for me.

I did not almost just walk out of the waiting room at Kambry's dentist appointment because I was sick and tired of waiting. I did not pretend to not care I waited over an hour to be seen. I didn't even care that they didn't do as good of a job than I wanted because I just wanted to get out of there. I don't think I will be taking her back.

I would never want to think of a way to sabotage another certain t-ball team so we could win because the coach thinks their "stuff" doesn't stink. I didn't just say that.

I guess that's all the embarrassing things I did this past week. What did you do?

Just a little...

Wow, it's almost the end to yet another weekend that flew by. We didn't do much, mainly got the yard ready for spring. It was nice to get out and mow, weed eat, sweep and look forward to spending lots of time outside in the beautiful weather. I have been somewhat busy making more things for my ETSY shop but today I am feeling a little under the weather so I am going to take a break and relax. I will be at my 100th post tomorrow...yeah.

Soap Box

I feel as if I need a moment to stand upon my soap box.

McKenna had a game tonight against another t-ball team that had no business in the same league as ours. You see, the t-ball coordinator is the coach of this team and decided to hand pick this team (as apparantly he does every year) to get all the best players. T-ball teams consist of mostly 4-6 year old boys and girls mixed. This team consisted of 6 and just turned 7 year olds and better yet were all boys except for two girls. Our team has 6 girls and only 2 of them are six year olds, the rest are younger. Okay, so do you get the picture on how it looks? The game was supposed to start at 5:30pm. We were to be at the field 30 minutes prior to game time to warm up and get everyone ready. 5:30 came, 5:30 went and no sign of the other team. We knew they were there somewhere but not a single player was near the field or dugout. We were told by the umpires that there was a 15 minute grace period before a forfit. Of course we didn't really want to play them because we knew it wouldn't be much of a game and we would be the ones coming up very short. Sure enough, the team walked up at about 5:44pm and said they were taking pictures. Come on...really?? The t-ball coordinator was the coach and he was just taking advantage of not having to be there on time. It cut into our game time and then the game after us was delayed because of his lack of responsibility. So around 5:50pm I think we finally started the game. We were the home team so we took the field first. They batted the entire line up with out us getting a single out. Their kids were hitting balls into the outfield and one player hit one over the fence. REALLY??? In T-BALL?? One other thing that kind of got on my nerves was how the "coach" was positioning the batters so they would hit a certain direction. It was really getting to me. I kept trying to remember that this is only t-ball and I shouldn't get so competitive but then again...this is ONLY t-ball. What kind of grown up gets his "kicks" out of stacking his team and then throwing it in everyone elses face? Here's the real kicker. The other team's sponsor is Pepsi. I guess the "coach" works for Pepsi so they sponsor his team. They even had to arrive on opening day in a limo. That is taking it just a little too far. We were also told that we were not allowed to sell Coke products at the concession stands. I think we need to get Coke as our sponsor for next year and give PEPSI some competition. Is anyone in agreement with me? Okay..I will step down now. Thank you for listening(reading) my frustrations.

By the way, I come home today to find two bulldozers and a large dumpster container sitting in the street next to my house. I knew what was coming. Half an hour later it started....crash, smash, bang, boom. Within two hours the lot next to our house was demolished. That's right, a house is about to be built next door. That means for the next month or two I won't count on having any quiet days. YEAH!!
